Applications : Ring Gear
Ring gears are used in a wide variety of power transfer applications. In automotive transfer case applications, for example, a spiral gear pinion shaft drives a series of ring gears that then transfer power to the axles and wheels. Ring gears start as circular bands into which internal, external or side gear teeth are cut.
Our coiling technology can be used to take long length of rod and coil it into a multi-turn spiral coil. That coil is then placed in our Ring-Splitting Saw which then saws it into individual rings. Depending on the application, one of our welding technologies can then be used to weld the individual rings into solid bands. The welded area can be trimmed using a Rotary Weld Flash Trimmer. A gear cutting operation can then covert the trimmed bands into the desired ring gear configuration.
