Hess Engineering first assisted the exhaust systems market by supplying spinforming machines to produce catalytic converters from a one-piece stainless steel tube . The method of using spinforming to reduce the tube ends offers cost and quality advantages over the traditional methods of converter assembly which welded stamped components together. Over the years we have designed and built equipment that will assemble catalytic substrates with supportive mat, insert the substrate assembly into a stainless steel tube, and spinform the tube ends to a reduced diameter.
