Insertion Station

Purpose

The insertion station is used to push the substrate/mat assembly into the shell to the specified axial position. Both single and dual end substrate insertion stations are available for this purpose.

Hess Inserter Station

Description

The inserter will be constructed of a welded base frame. This unit will be guarded by a light curtain for operator protection. The stuffing operation will be achieved via electric servo motor and ball screw drive. Part dependant tooling for the inserter includes: cylinder inserter end plates, part and substrate holding nests, insertion funnels, and can stop plates. All controls for the inserter will be handled by PLC.

The raw tubes will be loaded into the insertion station holding block. Dressed substrates will be loaded into trays on the insertion station. The operator will then actuate the cycle start button and the substrates will be inserted to the desired location within the tube.
