Products : Flowforming Machines:
2-Roll, 4-Axis Horizontal Flowformer
Purpose
Flowforming the profile of cast or forged aluminum wheel blanks to prepare them for finish machining the bolt holes, pilot hole, hand holes, and valve hole. The final profile is shaped through a series of operations that typically include a pre-form and final-form process. Manual part loading and unloading as well as a fully integrated hard automation and / or robot handling systems are possible.
Description
The machine frame is constructed from heavy reinforced steel plate using a horizontal design with a fixed headstock and tailstock. Two radial slides mounted on independent carriages travel axially. The machine features four axes of movement X (radial), U (radial), Z (axial) and W (axial).
The relative axial movement of the roller-to-part is accomplished by the travel of the two independent carriages, which house the radial slides. The headstock with spindle, which is mounted horizontally, is driven via a synchronous belt drive arrangement from a D.C. electric motor. This direct drive arrangement results in low inertia at the spinning mandrel. The (2) roller slides as well as the (2) roller carriages are driven by closed loop controlled servo cylinders. The servo cylinders feature slide-mounted scales with the servo valve mounted directly on the cylinders. The feedback method for the hydraulic slides is incremental. The flexibility of this system allows programming of any entry and exit forming angles.
