Hess Engineering: Metalforming Technologies

Products : Rollforming Machines : Open-End Rollformer

Purpose

The rollformer rolls a profile onto welded steel bands.

Hess Open-End Rollformer

Description

A stationary upper spindle and a moving lower spindle are mounted in the rollformer frame. Both spindles are driven by hydraulic motors. Profile tooling is mounted on each spindle and extends beyond the font of the rollformer frame. The lower spindle is raised and lowered by a hydraulic cylinder.

Two pneumatically-actuated side guide rollers contact the rim during rollforming to prevent rim oscillation. The guide rollers are non-powered.

Part rests are mounted to the front of the rollformer frame to assist in manually loading and unloading parts.

An operator control panel is mounted on a pedestal near the rollformer. The rollformer can be manually or automatically operated by controls and indicators located on the control panel.

Hydraulic power for the rollformer is supplied by a single hydraulic power unit. A centralized manual lubrication system lubricates critical joints, slides, bearings, and pivot points; however, there are manual lubrication points which require service.
