Walking Beam Part Transfer System
The electrically driven 5-position walking beam transfer system is integrated into the machine frame. The elliptical motion guarantees minimal cycle time (@ 3.5 sec) and smooth handling of the work pieces. Parts are loaded in hardened “V” nests for transport from station to station.
Reject Station
Any part that cannot be straightened within the set time limit or exceeds the incoming bend is automatically picked up from the walking beam and placed in an overhead reject tray. Through the part tracking logic provided, the machine will stop cycling if the rejected part is not placed in the reject tray. The rejected parts roll down the tray to the rear of the machine where an operator must manually remove and properly dispose of them. A tray “full” sensor alerts the operator if the tray become full. The machine will automatically stop if a part is rejected and the reject tray is full.
Pocketed Entry or Exit Conveyor
A pocketed chain conveyor can be used to deliver parts to the walking beam entry station or to receive good parts exiting the walking beam. This conveyor will transport parts in line with the normal flow of the walking beam. Parts can be manually loaded by an operator or automatically loaded by Buyer-supplied automation. Parts are placed onto or taken off the conveyor by the walking beam. A part present switch stops the conveyor as the part reaches the unload position. Safety devices (light curtains, proximity sensors, etc) and guarding are application specific.
Longitudinal Entry or Exit Conveyor (with Pusher)
A narrow belt conveyor can be used to deliver parts to the walking beam entry station or to receive good parts exiting the walking beam. This conveyor will move parts to or from the walking beam perpendicular to the flow of the walking beam. A pneumatically-actuated pusher directs parts off the conveyor into the walking beam entry station or onto a Buyer-supplied exit device. The conveyor is equipped with a part present switch to stop the conveyor as the part reaches the unload position.
