Brake Shoe Welder

Purpose

To manufacture brake shoes for passenger cars and light trucks with a diameter range of 100 to 300 mm.

Description

The modular design advantage offers discrete manufacturing functions for bending and welding, part handling, and roll calibration. This unique design can be offered as a complete unit or as a forming and welding unit only with provisions for the eventual installation of a part handling system and roll calibration at a later date.

Based on customer requirements, we can size machine to assure sufficient forming forces and welding parameters are available for meeting initial and future needs. Tooling and component magazines can be designed to accommodate a family of brake shoes with common webs and rim/table sizes. Future brake shoe requirements can be easily tooled based on the simple design of the component magazines, web nests, and welding electrodes.

Quick tool changeover features permit faster changeovers for different size brake shoes. Tool changeover time for a different size brake shoe web and rim/table is estimated to be one hour for one person.

Installation and startup is minimal due to the compact construction and packaging. Pneumatic actuated machines are typically self-contained units; installation requires setting the unit in place, leveling and lagging to customer foundation bolts, and connecting customer's plant services. Hydraulically actuated machines are similar in design by include a separate hydraulic tank assembly; installation requires setting both units in place, leveling and lagging to customer's foundation bolts, connecting the lines and control wiring between the Brake Shoe Welding Machine and hydraulic tank assembly, filling the hydraulic tank assembly with fluid and connecting customer's plant services.
