Purpose

The purpose of this machine is to form a radius onto the edges of welded, trimmed and edge trimmed rim bands.

Description

The main frame and other major components are of welded construction, precision machined as required for proper assembly.

The outboard guide rollers come inward to trap the rim, and the loader overhead releases the part. The edge conditioning rolls are then hydraulically actuated inward to process the rim band. The edge conditioning rolls oscillate back and forth to round the edge of the rim band at the weld area only. The rolls retract allowing the overhead loader to remove the rim bands.
