Rim Leak Testing Machine

Purpose

The purpose of a rim leak testing machine is to perform an ultrasonic leak test on a fully profiled rim.

Description

In the rim leak testing machine, the rim is properly oriented based on the weld seam. The rim is embossed and the valve hole is pierced. The valve hole is coined and up to six digits are stamped into the rim. The leak test machine is manually or automatically operated from an operator control console.

Most critical joints, slides, bearings and pivot points are lubricated by a centralized automatic lubrication system; however, there are manual lubrication points which require service. A single hydraulic power unit located on the overhead platform provides hydraulic power for the leak test machine.
