Hess Engineering: Metalforming Technologies

Products : Wheel & Rim Machines : Stacker/Destacker

Purpose

To receive sheared strip steel from a shear/stamp, stack and store them. Supply sheared strips to the rim manufacturing line during normal coil changes.

Hess Stacker/Destacker

Description

Slit steel strips enter through the stacker/destacker into the coiler with excess strips being automatically stacked. When the shear press cannot supply strips, for example during coil change, the stacker/destacker destacks by lifting the top strip off the stack and places it on the bottom side of magnetic rolls which transfer the strip into the coiler. The strip is picked up by two magnetic rolls or vacuum cups that are moved up and down by a pneumatic cylinder. The strips are guided by adjustable side guides front and back that can be adjusted for different stock widths. The side guides are adjusted using a shaft with a right and left hand thread. The shear press side guides are driven by a gear motor controlled at the panel.

The front guide is hinged so that by removing three T-pins the guide can be folded down to remove the stack. An end stop on the right end can be adjusted for different length strips. The strips are transferred on the bottom of a magnetic roll that stops and starts with an air clutch/brake. The rolls are powered by an electric motor that runs continuously.

When stacking, the rack is lifted by a hydraulic cylinder. The rack contains the magnetic rolls that carry the strips through the stacker/destacker. When the rack is up, the incoming strip falls into the stack.
