Uncoil Cut-to-Length System

The Uncoil Cut-to-Length System performs the following processes in preparing the large coils of steel or aluminum for use in the rim manufacturing process. First the decoiler accepts the large coils of steel. Our uncoil cut-to-length lines can be supplied with one of the two following types of decoilers, mandrel type or cradle type. From the decoiler the strip enters the straightener or leveler part of the machine which consists of nine rolls that are used to remove the coil set. The next section of the machine optionally contains six (three pairs of opposing rolls) edge conditioning rolls. Following the edge conditioning rolls will optionally be a rotary stamp and finally a hydraulically actuated shear press for cutting the decoiled, straightened, edge conditioned, and stamped strip into cut strips of a pre-determined programmed length. When the strips are sheared they are transferred into the stacker/destacker section of the system which provides a buffer for the DC Butt Welding System so that it can continue running while the large coils are changed over.
