Wheel Assembly Welder

Purpose

The Automatic Wheel Assembly Cell is designed to assemble steel wheels by loading a disc into a rim, pressing the disc to a specific height in the rim, then welding the joint.

Description

Cell components can be manually operated from the operator control consoles. The automation system console is mounted on a swingarm near the rim orient station; the weld control system console is mounted on a swingarm at the operator platform. From either console, the cell can also be operated automatically through operation, diagnostic, and maintenance screens.

Most critical joints, slides, bearings, and pivot points are lubricated by centralized automatic lubrication systems; however, there are manual lubrication points which require service. The hydraulic power unit, main electrical cabinets, welder wire feeding equipment, and water cooling system are located on the overhead platform.
